Your dog may have separation anxiety
If your dog always exhibits these behaviors when you leave the house, it is advisable to speak with your veterinarian about separation anxiety treatment options. Videotapes and audiotapes recorded when your dog is home alone can be very helpful for the veterinarian in making an accurate diagnosis. Remember that your dog is not a bad dog! It is suffering from a readily treatable condition.
Your dog may be showing signs
Dogs are social animals and naturally become bonded to family members in the household. It is possible that your dog is suffering from separation anxiety and it is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian to learn more and to receive a more accurate diagnosis.
Signs are minimal
Based on your responses, your dog does not appear to exhibit the most common signs for separation anxiety, however if you feel your dog may be suffering from this treatable condition, it is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian to learn more and to go over what signs your dog does exhibit that are of concern to you.
How to treat
separation anxiety:
When it is clear that the behaviors your dog is exhibiting are not caused by a physical problem, your veterinarian will develop a comprehensive treatment plan for separation anxiety that may involve medication, such as Reconcile®(fluoxetine hydrochloride), and behavior modification training to help develop your dog’s independence. Reconcile is an FDA-approved medication for the treatment of separation anxiety in dogs in conjunction with behavior modification training. Reconcile is a once-a-day flavored, chewable tablet prescribed by your veterinarian. Reconcile achieves a calmer frame of mind in dogs, making them more receptive to training.
